Lens Dynamics has completed a 100 patient study at 10 US sites of the new Menifocal Z © presbyopic contact lens. Patients have been extremely happy with the comfort and the vision at near, far and intermediate ranges. The practitioners report the lenses are easy to fit and satisfies patients demand even at high adds.
Design and Fitting Highlights:
-
Spherical base curves for easy fitting and NO CORNEAL MOLDING.
-
True adds of +1.00 to +2.50 in 0.25 steps.
-
Translating concentric design with transition zone between near and far for intermediate vision.
-
The system starts with a standard edge lift. Flatter or steeper edge lifts are available in a step system.
-
Menicon Z © material for maximum corneal health.
-
30 day Continuous Wear approved.

Menifocal Z technology has developed its optical partition that is designed for center portion for distance and periphery portion for near. This unique concentric design takes advantage of obtaining both clear and natural vision. When we look straight to focus distance image, Menifocal Z can match its center optical zone for distance with the pupil. Similarly, when looking downward to focus near images, Menifocal Z can match its peripheral optical zone for near with the pupil.
Menifocal Z sets the distance optical zone on center so that it can give same distance visual acuity and same lens thickness as typical oxygen permeable contact lens. There is little difference between Menifocal Z and typical RGP lenses in fitting. Menifocal Z can ensure its maximum bifocal performance without losing the original advantage of oxygen permeable contact lenses.

Menifocal Z has unique advanced optical zones that slightly change the partitioned ratio among distance optical zone, near optical zone and transition zone according to parameters of additional power, which results in giving good vision to every age of wearers who are trouble with presbyopia.
Fitting Guide: 1) Achieve central fit w/ alignment pattern 2) Lens position and movement: It is important that the lens is fitted centrally on the cornea when looking straight ahead, and with good translation when gazing downwards. 3) Wearer education: Patients must be instructed to gaze downwards without lowering their head to optimize the peripheral near vision.

Tips:
* If lens does not center, DO NOT FIT * If lens does not translate up during downward gaze, DO NOT FIT. * Round down from spectacle add power
i.e. +2.25 order +2.00 Menifocal Z
